Yoga / Somatics:

Restorative, Gentle Flow, Somatics, or Yin - OnDemand and private sessions offer a space to move, rest, and Embrace Shalom through the mind-body connection.

What are Restorative, Gentle Flow, Yin, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, and Somatics?

Meditation / Contemplation:

I have a daily meditation and contemplative practice of my own - so this is one of my favorites! Whether you want a more traditional breath-centered meditation or a more scriptural contemplative practice, the OnDemand classes provide a variety of opportunities. Private sessions are also available.

What are mindfulness, meditation, and contemplation?

Spiritual Direction:

I graduated from Soul Shepherding's Spiritual Direction School, a two-year program that meets the ESDA (Evangelical Spiritual Direction Association) requirements for the practice of Spiritual Direction. I continue to see my spiritual director and receive monthly supervision. This offering is currently offered as a donation-based service through Embracing Shalom.

What is spiritual direction?

Whether you are a Medical/Health/Wellness practitioner or a patient, Welcome!

The health benefits of yoga and meditation are numerous! Research has shown that yoga improves mobility, balance, and strength while reducing stress and anxiety. Meditation helps improve focus, concentration, memory, and recall while reducing anxiety, depression, and stress. Both improve sleep quantity and quality!

So take a look at my yoga and meditation services. Whether you are looking for a Gentle Flow for strength and mobility, a Restorative practice to engage the parasympathetic nervous system, a sound-of-the-bell meditation, or a body scan, I hope you find a way to Embrace Shalom for your Health journey!

Welcome!

More and more counselors are recommending clients to yoga and meditation. The mental health community recognizes that trauma can get stuck in our bodies. The gentleness of yoga, with its structure and allowing choice, makes it a beautifully therapeutic practice.

With nearly two decades in the SEL (social-emotional learning) field, along with my trauma-sensitive yoga training, I have worked with adults and youth to address the effects of stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression, and self-harm, just to name a few. I have come alongside faculty and behavioral specialists to support their teams and students.

Welcome! Thank you for pausing to take a look around!

When I began studying Christ-centered yoga, my teacher-trainer told me, “We are putting Devotion-in-Motion!” And she was right!

“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

- Matthew 22:37 - 40 AMP

“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the Lord is one [the only God]! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being].”

- Deuteronomy 6:4-5 AMP

When I think about these verses, I can see how loving the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength through Christ-centered yoga and contemplative meditation is possible. AND how loving my neighbor as myself through spiritual direction, and “holding space” for those working out their faith journey through all of these practices can be done as well.

Yoga helps bring breath and body into union. Because we use our brains to move our bodies, yoga is especially good at strengthening the mind-body connection, providing many physical and mental benefits: improved heart rate, digestion, sleep quality and quantity, reduced anxiety and stress, plus so many more!

Now consider adding scripture and quiet moments to reflect on the Word of God and personal prayer…it is “Devotion-in-Motion!”

Contemplative Meditation has been used in the church for centuries. The Psalms speak to meditating on scripture, while the Desert Mothers and Fathers, Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Francis of Assis, and countless others have shared their contemplative experiences and practices with the world. Practices like the Examen, Lectio Divina (Holy Reading), and Centering Prayer are among these gifts to the church.

Many churches offer fitness or interest groups. If you want to bring Christ-centered Yoga or a Contemplative group to your church or small group, please do not hesitate to contact me. I have also led Retreats in Soul Care, Christ-centered Yoga, and Contemplative practices. If I can serve you or your faith-based community in any way, please reach out to me directly at tracy@embracingshalom.com

I graduated from Soul Shepherding's Spiritual Direction School, a two-year program that meets the ESDA (Evangelical Spiritual Direction Association) requirements for the practice of Spiritual Direction. I continue to see my spiritual director and receive monthly supervision. I practice Spiritual Direction ecumenically, remembering that Abba, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the True Spiritual Director (3-in-1).

I offer Spiritual Direction primarily on a 1-on-1 basis either in person or online; however, I'm also able to offer Spiritual Direction groups for those wishing to gather with others.

The church has embraced spiritual direction for centuries. To learn more about spiritual direction, CLICK HERE.
